She holds an MFA in creative writing from Louisiana State University, and a BA in English from Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo.

She has taught English composition and creative writing at University of Arizona Global Campus; Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo; Belmont University; Loyola University, New Orleans—where she served as a poetry editor at New Orleans Review—and Louisiana State University, where she was book review manager at The Southern Review.
She is originally from Santa Maria, California, and currently resides in Paris (though a nomad at heart).
